Our Values

The Fundacja IZP is built on five core values that shape every decision, from how we treat patients to how we hire staff to how we spend every złoty.

1. Compassion

"We treat every person with dignity, empathy, and genuine care – without judgment."

Compassion is not a slogan; it is our first clinical tool. We listen before we diagnose. We believe patients when they describe their pain, even when tests come back "normal." We understand that seeking help is vulnerable, and we honor that courage.

In practice: All staff receive compassion fatigue training. No patient is rushed. Every intake includes time to share personal history.

2. Integrity

"We follow evidence-based methods, ethical practices, and complete transparency."

We never recommend treatments that lack scientific support. We publish our outcomes – good and bad. We are honest about what psychosomatic medicine can and cannot do. Financial records are open to donors and regulators.

In practice: Regular ethics audits. All research is peer-reviewed. Donations go directly to patient care, not overhead (maximum 15% administrative cost).

3. Accessibility

"We believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege."

No one is turned away for inability to pay. We maintain a subsidy fund supported by donors and grants. Our sliding scale goes as low as 0 zł for those in financial crisis. We also offer remote consultations for patients who cannot travel to Rzeszów.

In practice: 150+ free/subsidized slots per year. Online therapy options. Materials translated into Ukrainian and English.

4. Holistic Approach

"We never separate mental from physical health."

A stomach ulcer is not "just stress." Chronic back pain is not "all in your head." But neither is it purely physical. We treat biological, psychological, social, and behavioral factors simultaneously. Our patients see integrated teams, not isolated specialists.

In practice: Every patient gets a biopsychosocial assessment. Therapists consult with physicians. Treatment plans include body work, talk therapy, and lifestyle changes.

5. Innovation

"We constantly improve our therapies through research and feedback."

Psychosomatic medicine is evolving rapidly. We stay at the forefront by conducting our own studies, collaborating with universities, and integrating new methods like virtual reality therapy for anxiety, biofeedback for stress disorders, and telehealth for remote patients.

In practice: Annual research budget of 50,000+ PLN. Patient feedback directly shapes program changes. Staff attend international conferences.

Our Values in Action – A Patient Story

Karolina, 34, came to us after three years of unexplained chest pain. She had seen four cardiologists, two pulmonologists, and a gastroenterologist. All tests were normal.

Our team spent two hours with Anna – not just reviewing her symptoms, but her life. She was caring for an aging parent, working two jobs, and suppressing grief from a recent loss.

We offered compassion (we believed her pain was real), integrity (we explained the mind-body connection honestly), accessibility (she paid 30% of our standard fee), holistic approach (we combined therapy with breathwork and gentle movement), and innovation (she used our biofeedback app at home).

Six months later, her chest pain had reduced by 80%. She is now training to become a peer support volunteer.
